Our global trading network is one of the largest and most widely recognized in the industry. It is supported by a worldwide network of strategically located marine terminals and strong relationships with reliable suppliers and shippers.
Over the years, we have forged lasting international relationships with customers, suppliers, and shippers. This enables us to move building materials from markets with excess supply and meet customers´ need for quality virtually all over the world.
As our organization and our industry have grown, the goals of our trading operations have grown along with them. CEMEX Trading started as a means to maximize our domestic production capacity, but now our trading operations enable us to forge lasting international relationships and explore new markets.
In 2015 CEMEX traded more than 9 million metric tons of cementitious materials around the world.
|Grey Cement and Clinker||Cement is the main ingredient of ready-mix concrete. Whether in bags, big bags, or in bulk, we provide our customers with high-quality cement products for their construction needs.|
|White Cement and Clinker||CEMEX is one of the world's largest producers of White Portland Cement. This construction material is used primarily in architectural concrete works requiring great brightness and artistic finishes, white or colored renderings, mortars, and high-end precast concrete products. CEMEX has been consuming petcoke during the production of cement since the mid 1990’s and now consumes and trades around 4 to 6 million tons of petcoke and coal per year.
As a result of this activity, CEMEX formed Transenergy with the mission of managing the trading relationships between CEMEX, its suppliers, and external customers, whilst developing and securing a robust global trading network.
Products & Services
Petroleum coke is a byproduct of the Coker refinery with high calorific value and despite its higher sulfur content it has been widely used in the cement industry and power plants.
Coal is one of the world’s most important sources of energy, fuelling almost 40% of electricity worldwide. Coal has been the world’s fastest growing energy source in recent years – faster than gas, oil, nuclear, hydro and renewables.
Refuse-Derived Fuel (RDF) or Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF) is produced from commercial, industrial and/or municipal waste. It consists largely of combustible components such as plastics, paper, cardboard and biodegradable waste that have been processed to fulfill industry specifications. It is a low-carbon alternative fuel used widely throughout the cement industry.
Based on our experience, CEMEX can offer technical assistance in the use of petcoke – we can analyze the options for a successful transition from traditional fuel to petcoke firing. We have gathered a vast amount of know-how and experience in overcoming the operational problems related to petcoke firing. By altering the kiln parameters or changing the raw mix composition, we can optimize your kiln system for petcoke firing and offer a systematic program.
Supply Assurance/Continuity – Given the strong petcoke portfolio that we have and our long-standing relationships with many major refineries around the world, CEMEX is in a position to be able to offer a highly competitive long term petcoke supply agreement.
With Whom Do We Trade?
We have long standing relationships for the purchase of petcoke and coal with some of the world’s major producers.
Originally Transenergy only traded within CEMEX operations, however due to increased demand, we have expanded Transenergy to new customers such as other cement producers, power stations etc. in fact to anyone with a broad requirement for petcoke & coal.
Where Do we Trade?
Our trading network is vast and covers almost every continent, the majority of our petcoke and coal is sourced from the USA and South America, but we also have operations in Europe and Asia. As a result of this coverage, we sell to and trade with clients on every major continent.
If you have a requirement for petcoke, coal, or related services, please use the contact form in the right hand column of this page to arrange a call back, and a member of the Transenergy team will contact you.
